Samson’s Strength Sustainable Veterans Project, Inc
At Samson’s Strength Sustainable Veterans Project (SSSVP, Inc.), we are dedicated to fostering independence and sustainable living for veterans facing homelessness and joblessness.
Through a combination of transitional housing, job skills training, and equine-assisted experiences, we provide veterans with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to reengage with their communities and rebuild their lives.
Equine Experiences
At Samson’s Strength Sustainable Veterans Project (SSSVP), we offer a unique and powerful program utilizing Equine Experiences. This non-riding interaction brings participants into a mindful connection with horses — using the natural presence of these animals to support emotional awareness, grounding, and healing.
Our herd includes 7 donkeys, 9 Mustangs, and 5 rescued draft horses — each with its own story, energy, and personality. These animals play a central role in helping people reconnect: first with the horses, then with themselves and others.
How It Works
Our equine sessions ( individual, family, group) incorporate elements of natural horsemanship and The Masterson Method, a gentle, hands-on approach to working with horses that helps release tension and improve connection between horse and human. These techniques create purposeful, ground-based experiences that support emotional regulation, confidence, and trust:
Grooming and care routines that build mindfulness and mutual respect
Non-verbal communication exercises that promote calm and emotional clarity
Touch and release techniques that support awareness of tension — in the horse and in oneself
