Weekly Activities & Checklist

One week at a time, one goal at a time—let’s do this! Click each tab to see more!

Week 1 | April 19-25
Build Your Fundraising Circles!

Taking just 30 minutes this week to map out your support system is going to be key to your success!

Start with your inner circle—think parents, partner, siblings, and close friends. Then branch out to include coworkers, extended family, neighbors, and any community or social groups you’re part of.

As you make your list, also jot down how you’ll reach out to each person—whether it’s a quick text, a personal email, a direct message, or even a phone call. Choosing the method that fits your relationship will make your outreach feel more authentic and personal.

The more names you jot down now, the easier it will be to reach out and build momentum once the campaign launches.

Ask yourself:

Who do I talk to or text regularly?
Who would be excited to support something meaningful to me?
Who’s part of my social or professional network?

This simple list can turn into a powerful circle of support!

Week 2 | April 26-May 2
Let’s start strong: Raise your first $500!

Let’s start strong: Raise your first $500!
The best way to kick off your fundraising is by reaching out to your inner circle—think mom, dad, siblings, partner, and close friends. These are the people who know and love you and will want to support a cause you care about.

Your goal: Raise your first $500.
That could be 5 people giving $100, or 10 giving $50—every donation counts.

Suggested text message:

Hey [Name]! I just joined a fundraiser for Mental Health Awareness Month in support of a local nonprofit, [Organization Name], that provides mental health services incorporating horses 🐴💙—a cause that means a lot to me.

I’m trying to raise $500 this week to kick things off, and you’d be one of my very first supporters. Can you help? Every bit makes a difference!

Here’s my donation link: [Insert Fundraising Link]

Week 3 | May 4-10
Happy Hour Blitz!

Around 6 pm on a weekday, when people are home, winding down, and checking their phones, send a short personal text to everyone in your circle. Friends, family, coworkers, your dentist, soccer parents, swim coaches, anyone who knows you.

Share why this matters to you, include your fundraising link, and make the ask donation amount and easy to act on.

People are more likely to read texts in the early evening.

Week 4 | May 11-17
Connect with Local Businesses

Local businesses love giving back—and this is the perfect opportunity for them to make a real impact. Because they’re operating as a business, they can often give at a higher level, so don’t be afraid to ask for $500 or even $1,000 toward your goal.

Pro tip: Your own work place is a great place to start! Send them a quick email, text, or even an in-personal ask.

Hi [Business Owner Name],

My name is [Volunteer’s Name], and I’m reaching out as a Fundraising Ambassador for [Organization Name], a local nonprofit providing equine-assisted mental health services to support our community.

I’ve set a goal to raise $[Fundraising Goal] by the end of May, with 100% of donations going directly to support the mental health and well-being of local veterans, families, and youth served by [Organization Name] every day.

We know the power of community support, and we’re inviting local businesses like yours to join us in this important effort.

Would you be open to making a donation of $500 or more? Your generosity would directly impact the lives of those who need it most right here in our community.

Thank you so much for considering!

Week 5 | May 18-24
Revisit Your List of Supporters

Don’t forget to circle back to others on your list—especially the community groups you’re already a part of! Whether it’s your church, yoga class, swim team, or moms’ group, these are great networks to tap into.

💡 Example: Ask 10 members to chip in $25 each—and just like that, you’ve raised another $250!

Keep it simple: a quick mention after class or a message in your group chat can go a long way. You’ve got this! 🙌

Week 6 | May 23-31
US Memorial Day Weekend: Final Push!

This Memorial Day Weekend, while you’re gathered with friends and family at BBQs and celebrations, take a moment to share our Animated Veteran Story (coming soon!). It’s a powerful reminder of why your organization’s work matters—because you support people just like the veteran featured in this story.

Before the weekend, connect with your organization to learn more about how they’re serving veterans in your community—and share that with your friends and family. Personal stories and local impact go a long way in inspiring support.

Use this moment to invite others into your mission. Whether it’s a first-time donation or a renewed gift, encourage your network to give generously.

Ask for $100 to directly support veterans on their path to healing through the transformative power of horses.

Messaging Templates

Quick pre-made messages to customize and easily send to friends and family.
