Tufic Paone was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 10, 1977. He enlisted in the United States Air Force directly after high school as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician assigned to the A-10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog). During his maintenance career, he was selected for the Air National Guard’s Maintenance Inspection Team and certified as an Inspector General, conducting inspections and strengthening maintenance operations across multiple units. His outstanding performance was recognized by Connecticut’s Adjutant General, who reassigned him as the state’s Resiliency Training Representative. In that role, he met Kathleen and Gator, commander of the operations group.
This experience led him to change career paths from maintenance technician to aviator. He cross-trained and became a loadmaster on the Mighty C-130 Hercules. As a loadmaster, he advanced to Aerial Delivery Inspector, followed by Instructor and Evaluator. He retired in 2022 as a Master Sergeant.
A devoted husband married to his high school sweetheart and a proud father, Tufic’s firsthand understanding of the challenges military families face — many of which go unaddressed because they are often considered too small to show up on anybody’s radar — inspired him to establish the Silent Sentinel Foundation. These are heroes from local communities who quietly struggle while their service goes largely unnoticed. The foundation provides a secure, anonymous channel for donors to contribute firearms and other valuables. These items are auctioned or sold through appropriate channels, with all proceeds placed into escrow accounts and held exclusively for veterans and their families in need.
