For the past eight years, Miracles in Motion has been a place where I’ve witnessed transformation, courage, and joy — not only in the students we serve, but in myself. As a volunteer with Miracles in Motion, I’ve collected countless moments that remind me why this work matters. A few that stay with me:
- Watching a student transform from fearful to confident. I’ve seen riders begin a session unable to stand near a horse — only to end it grooming that same horse with pride and a sense of accomplishment. That shift is powerful.
- Bringing a horse to the mounting ramp successfully on the first try. It may sound small, but in the world of equine‑assisted services, these moments of teamwork and trust feel like victories.
- Learning how to tack a horse correctly. Every new skill deepened my connection to the horses and strengthened my confidence.
- Building relationships with these huge, graceful, emotionally intuitive animals. Out in the country, surrounded by rolling hills and sunsets, I’ve found peace, grounding, and connection.
- Caring for the horses in simple, meaningful ways. Grooming them, talking to them, being present with them — these quiet moments have brought me more joy than I ever expected.
There is rarely a day when I leave Miracles in Motion without being in a better mood and a better frame of mind than when I arrived. That’s joy. And it’s the same joy I see reflected in the students and families we serve.
