I’m raising money for HOOVES because their program truly saved my life.
I served in the Army for 10 years, including during Desert Shield. Like many veterans, I came home carrying invisible wounds. I am service-connected for PTSD and military sexual trauma, along with physical injuries. There were times in my life when I genuinely didn’t care if I woke up the next morning.
A fellow veteran and friend, Ann, told me about HOOVES. At first, I was skeptical. What could a horse possibly do for me? And was I really ready to make myself that vulnerable?
When I arrived at the ranch in Swanton, Ohio, I immediately felt a sense of calm, I didn’t know what to expect or how I would handle it.
That week at the ranch changed everything.
It was truly inspiring. I experienced breakthroughs I never thought were possible. HOOVES gave me space to heal, reflect, and begin reconnecting with myself in a way I hadn’t been able to before.
Amanda and her staff are incredible. They understand veterans in a way that’s hard to put into words. The volunteers give 200% every single day to care for the ranch and support those of us going through the program.
HOOVES gave me hope when I didn’t think I had any left.
That’s why I’m raising money—so other veterans can have the same chance to heal that I did.
