Help Fund Operation Horse: A Veterans Weekend Retreat
Spring Reins of Life is entering a new chapter.
Founded in 2012, Spring Reins of Life has provided equine-assisted psychotherapy services to trauma survivors throughout New Jersey, including military veterans and their families, at-risk youth, survivors of domestic violence, and others affected by trauma. Thanks to the generosity of donors, thousands of individuals have participated in programs at little or no cost.
Today, we are asking for your help to fund our next mission: Operation Horse, a fully funded Veterans Weekend Retreat in New Jersey.
Planned for Fall 2026 in Blairstown, New Jersey, this retreat will provide 10–15 veterans with three days of equine-assisted partnership experiences designed to foster connection, reflection, resilience, and personal growth. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as camping cabins near the farm – this is designed to serve NJ veterans at no cost.
Our goal is to raise approximately $4,500 to make this retreat possible, and an additional $900 for operational and administrative costs.
Like many small nonprofits, Spring Reins of Life continues to recover from the effects of the COVID-19 shutdown and subsequent funding disruptions that impacted partner organizations and programming opportunities. Additional funds raised through this campaign will help cover essential operational and administrative expenses, allowing us to continue serving those who need us most.
Spring Reins of Life recently completed a significant transition, relocating several members of the herd to Virginia. Syriana and donkeys Edith, Gloria, and GusArchie have safely settled into their new home. Molly remains in New Jersey.
Sadly, we also recently lost two beloved members of our herd, Chubby (December 2025) and Junior Mif (April 2026). Their legacy continues to inspire the work ahead.
Christiana Capra remains Program Director and is committed to continuing the mission that has guided Spring Reins of Life since 2012: helping individuals find hope, healing, connection, and growth through the unique partnership between horses and humans.
