Why I’m Raising Funds

For my 16th birthday I wanted to give back to an organization that means a lot to me – HorseSenseAbility. As many of you know, I have been horseback riding since I was 4 and it has brough me so much joy and helped me grow in so many ways. My Mom has been volunteering at HorseSenseAbility for 3.5 years and I started volunteering last year with the occupational therapy riding program.   I love being around horses and kids so being a side-walker on Wednesdays when they need a substitute is so much fun!  The kids ages range from 3-16, and I have a smile on my face the entire time I am helping with their lessons because their excitement about being on a horse is contagious!  Watching them learn new skills and engage more deeply with the horses over time makes me want to keep coming back.  I also know how calming being around horses can be, and I see how good it is for settling the student’s minds and bodies.

My goal is to raise $1600 for HorseSenseAbility to help sponsor kids for lessons and summer camp at this incredible place. Please consider making a donation of $16 for my sixteenth birthday, but any amount is greatly appreciated!
