At Peace Ranch, we believe healing should never be a privilege, it should be a promise.
Every day, we watch what happens when a veteran who has carried the weight of war finally exhales beside a horse who asks for nothing but presence. We see children who have lived through trauma rediscover safety, confidence, and joy in nature, often for the first time. We witness families begin to reconnect, not through words, but through shared moments of calm, trust, and connection.
And yet, access to this kind of healing comes with a cost.
One experiential, nature-based therapy session costs approximately $200. For many of the veterans, children, and families we serve, those who have sacrificed the most or endured the unthinkable, this cost is simply out of reach. Still, at Peace Ranch, we have made a promise: we will never deny someone the chance to heal because of their ability to pay.
Raising money for horses is often easy. People love animals, and so do we. But the truth is, the horses are only part of the story. The real heartbeat of this work is the people:
• The veterans who fought so we could live freely.
• The children carrying trauma far heavier than their years.
• The families trying to break cycles and build something better.
They are the backbone of America. They are also the future.
The Horses for Mental Health campaign helps us bridge the gap between need and access. Your support directly funds scholarships that open the gate to healing for someone who desperately needs it but cannot afford it.
When you give, you’re not just supporting a program.
You’re standing up for those who stood for us.
You’re investing in children who will shape the world tomorrow.
You’re saying, healing matters, and everyone deserves it.
$200 provides one full therapy session, it takes around 8 sessions to feel a change.
Every gift—any size—changes a life.
Thank you for helping us keep our promise.

What an amazing program
Thank you to Amy smart for sharing this!
In memory of Mary Ann Hansen, RN and her beloved childhood farm horse, Chief, who steadily guided her during the whole time period from her first rides as a youngster all the way through her school years in the 1950s-60s. They spent many hours together every day to ride around the farm and to nuzzle each other’s faces, and “talk”about everything that needed a trusted and understanding listener. Chief was her best confidant and longest friend for nearly two decades and that loving bond built part of Mary Ann’s framework for coping during the challenges of life.
During her preparation for her own death in Munson Hospice House at 78 years old, Mary Ann reflected on Chief’s gift of unconditional respect and steady emotional support in her growing years. The relationship between Mary Ann and her horse was so impactful on her understanding of peace that, as she went into her death, her brain effortlessly pulled his presence back to her and as she went in and out of calm sleep she said that she was walking with Chief down the farm lane again.
Thank you, Peace Ranch, for living your beliefs and for providing compassionate connections between horses and humans!
