Our mission is to promote resilience and foster healing for vulnerable children, families, and caregivers through animal-assisted activities, horticulture, and expressive arts by offering individual/group counseling and creative wellness programs.
The ongoing success of this mission relies on the generous donations of individuals and organizations.
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE THAT WE SERVE
Through partnerships with credentialed professionals and individuals, we serve vulnerable children, their families, and caregivers from all over Northern VA, MD, WV, and DC. This includes youth suffering from anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation; those currently in juvenile centers; those admitted to hospice or have a significant illness; those in need of grief support who have lost a parent, child, or sibling; caregivers struggling with compassion fatigue; and those who have experienced trauma, such as bullying, sexual assault and human trafficking.
OHANA PROGRAMS
The primary focus of our programs and services is to provide formal and informal approaches to enhance mental wellness, while incorporating the backdrop of our unique facility. Our licensed therapists are credentialed in their fields and offer therapeutic interventions through individual and group counseling. To enhance the therapeutic process beyond a traditional office setting, we offer equine-assisted activities, horticulture and expressive arts.
We host mental wellness programs, group retreats and large family-style events annually. Each program is customized and catered to the needs of the group and the overall themes they are focusing on whether it is building resilience, finding cohesion and purpose, compassion fatigue, team-building/leadership retreats and more.
Our most popular programs are:
- Individual and Small Group Counseling
- Caregiver/Team-building Workshops
- Grief Support Programs
- Community Youth Programs/Psychoeducational Events
- School Field Trips
- Girl Scout Troop Events
