If you have ever heard of the little horse that could, we can tell you, his name is Bob.
Bobster for short.
As volunteers, we have really gotten to know this special man. Every time we see Bob, we fall in love with him all over again. With gentleman manners, he is the the model that every horse should follow (and lets be honest, humans could take a suggestion or two from him, too!). From farm activities to the event stage, Bob has done it all with confidence and composure. Of course, one of his favorite things to do is simply stretch out and snooze in the warm sun.
Bob is the kind of miniature equine perfection that is guaranteed to make you smile just by his very presence. He is also the kind of soul that is perfect for those needing a quiet, unimposing friend. This horse is particularly important to the youngest of clients who may benefit from being next to someone on their eye level. Whether a veteran with many years of life challenges, or a young person just discovering the ways of the world, Bob is there to be a light for us all.
Bob has gathered a lot of wisdom in his lifetime. As one of the eldest members of the herd, he’s had his share of health challenges. This organization believes that the horses and donkey that work and live at S.T.E.P.S. are also family. This phenomenal group ensures their animals have whole-life care, even when special geriatric attention is required. It’s not just about what the animals can do for us; it’s a partnership in what we can do for them, as long as they need it.
Since Bob can no longer eat hay, he lives on a senior complete feed mash, prepared for him multiple times per day. Today, Bob is doing really well thanks to the care provided by the staff, volunteers, and vets that support his senior lifestyle.
Although he is petite, his feed and care costs are not unlike some of the full size horses, if not more. With your support, Bob will continue to make the world a better place not only just by being in it but by helping others be in it, too.
Learn more about Bob and his role at S.T.E.P.S. For Horses – Bob is of course just one of several members of this special herd. Your support means the world to each of us volunteers, staff, and equines playing a role in this life-changing work. Thank you!
