Why I’m Raising Money for Waterford Equine-Assisted Healing
Mental health care should reach everyone, not just those who live near a clinic, or can afford a session, or feel ready to sit across from someone and find the words.
That’s why I’ve become an Ambassador for Waterford Equine-Assisted Healing (WEAH) through the Horses for Mental Health campaign, and why I’m asking you to join me this May.
WEAH is a New Brunswick-based not-for-profit founded by Raja Pizzey, launching this spring near Sussex. It provides individualized, evidence-informed healing sessions with horses, guided by licensed mental health professionals, in a safe and peaceful rural setting. It serves survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, veterans, first responders, and adults facing trauma, with a specific commitment to subsidized and free access for those facing financial or geographic barriers.
I have had the privilege of watching Raja build this organization, and I can tell you: the integrity, the clinical rigour, and the depth of care she brings to this work are exceptional. I also believe, genuinely and without reservation, that animals play a meaningful role in human wellbeing. The research supports it. And WEAH is making it real, right here, in our own communities.
My goal is to raise $1,000 during the month of May. Every dollar goes directly to WEAH — 100%, no exceptions. Funds will help make sessions affordable and accessible for the people who need them most but are least able to pay for them.
If you believe, as I do, that healing should not be a privilege, I’d be grateful for your support in any amount.
You can donate now at the link above. The campaign runs through May.
Thank you for being part of this.
