I support Horses for Mental Health and H.O.O.V.E.S. because I’ve experienced the impact firsthand.
Like many veterans, I got used to carrying everything alone and pushing it down just to function. Working with horses changed that. They don’t respond to the mask, they respond to what’s real. That kind of honesty forces you to slow down, regulate, and actually face what’s been buried.
Through this work, I’ve seen people reconnect with themselves in a way that doesn’t feel forced or clinical. Walls come down. Trust starts to rebuild. You stop just surviving and start showing up again.
This isn’t about fixing people. It’s about giving them the space to find themselves again.
And that’s why I stand behind it.
