As a social worker and therapist, I’ve come to learn how important choice and variety are in healing. Not everyone thrives in the talk-only, office environment and really, most people need more than conversational interventions. Anam Cara is an example of healing that meets people where they’re at, and by using the magic of horses, healing can be much more powerful, too.
Additionally, I unexpectedly lost my mother this year in March. My mother, Lisa, was a lover of all animals and a very accomplished equestrian. Her love for horses was something I remember so clearly from my childhood, and I know that’s why I’ve always had so much love for Anam Cara. Losing her so unexpectedly put a lot into perspective for me, and I’m raising money for Anam Cara this year with my mother in mind. She always used to talk about how therapeutic her time with horses was to her, and knowing what I know now, I totally understand why.

This is a great cause, Caitlyn. I know your mom was very proud of you and will greatly appreciate you for driving this fund fundraiser in her name. Lisa will be truly missed.
