My work as a founding member of the Board of Directors of Forever Amber Acres has awakened me to the power that horses have to heal and transform. Since first opening our barn doors to the underserved military community in northeast Ohio in 2017, our organization has provided over $300,000 in no-cost equine-assisted program services through the kindness and generosity of so many individual donors, grant funders and like-minded groups that believe in our mission of service and trust us with their precious dollars every year.
Every 11 minutes, someone in America takes their life by suicide and in the military community, death by suicide is 6 times greater! In 2024, my life was touched by suicide in a profound and deeply personal way when 2 of my loved ones took their lives 6 months apart. In honor of them, and the countless others lost to suicide, I’m raising money for Forever Amber Acres through Horses for Mental Health so that others may find hope and healing through the transformative power of horses.
