May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I’m raising funds to help Forever Amber Acres, where I volunteer, to support healing through horses. Forever Amber was selected to participate in the Horses for Mental Health – a special national campaign to bring awareness to the need to address mental health services and expand access to those who need it most: our veterans and first responders. Veteran Suicide rates remain a critical crises and has touched my family personally. My Uncle Greg served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Like so many veterans who appear to be physically unharmed, the mental injuries can be so significant but unseen; he kept those battle wounds hidden from his loved ones. He left us at the age of 32 and is at peace forever at Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Here, at Forever Amber Acres, veterans and first responders can receive equine assisted therapy and wellness programs completely free of charge while also providing a safe haven for rescued horses. This non-profit is 100% donation-driven. The cost of caring for just one horse can exceed $1,000/month. Your donation will help this amazing non-profit continue to feed and support the therapy horses and allow Forever Amber to continue to provide their services to those who need it most, absolutely free of charge.
