Horses have an extraordinary ability to reach people in ways that traditional therapy sometimes cannot. For individuals struggling with mental health challenges, trauma, or special needs, horses offer a quiet, nonjudgmental presence that invites connection, trust, and emotional growth. I know this not only professionally, but personally.
As a child I grew up largely without parents, and after the tragic death of my brother when we were young, the world felt overwhelming and unsafe. Animals – especially horses—became my refuge. They gave me comfort, structure, and a sense of belonging when I needed it most. Horses do not ask for explanations; they respond to authenticity, patience, and presence.
That is why I am raising funds through the Horses for Mental Health campaign—to help make these powerful healing experiences available to others who are struggling. Every person deserves the chance to experience the calm, confidence, and connection that horses can provide.
