We are raising money because access to psychotherapy should not depend on income, geography, or circumstance.
At The Equine Healing Collaborative, rescued horses become partners in licensed psychotherapy for children, families, first responders, veterans, and survivors of abuse and neglect. Many of the people we serve rely on Medi-Cal or have no financial resources at all. Reimbursement rates rarely cover the true cost of care, and equine-assisted psychotherapy carries additional expenses: feed, veterinary care, farrier services, land stewardship, insurance, and trained clinical staff.
Our horses are not props. They are sentient co-regulators who help clients build safety, attachment, emotional regulation, and trauma integration. They also require lifelong sanctuary. When we rescue a horse, we commit to them for life.
Funds raised through Horses for Mental Health allow us to:
- Provide psychotherapy to underserved and high-risk populations
- Care for and rehabilitate rescued horses
- Maintain safe, therapeutic environments for experiential treatment
- Support trainees and associates under supervision to expand the mental health workforce
- Ensure long-term sustainability of a nonprofit model rooted in access and dignity
We are raising money because this work changes lives. It keeps families intact, supports first responders before burnout becomes crisis, interrupts cycles of trauma, and gives vulnerable youth a place to belong.
Every dollar helps sustain both sides of the healing relationship: the humans seeking care and the horses who make that healing possible.
