Hi! I’m raising funds for the Horses for Mental Health campaign because through my childhood and into adulthood I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful horses can be for emotional wellbeing and mental health.
I’ve been riding horses since I was 4 years old, and throughout my life they have remained a constant source of calm, grounding, and clarity. There is something uniquely therapeutic about being around them—their presence encourages patience, awareness, and emotional balance in a way that is hard to replicate elsewhere. As a police officer, I’ve found that time with horses has been especially important in helping me decompress, reset, and manage the stress that can come with the job, allowing me to show up healthier both personally and professionally.
Horses have a natural ability to help people slow down, regulate stress, and reconnect with themselves. Whether it’s through riding, grooming, or simply being in their presence, they create space for healing and reflection that can be incredibly impactful for people dealing with anxiety, trauma, or everyday stress.
As a Peer Support member of my department and an avid horse lover this fundraiser is so important to me because I believe more people should have access to the healing benefits horses can offer. My goal is to help expand access to these programs so more people can experience the same kind of support and healing that horses have provided me. throughout my lifetime.
