I asked my parents for riding lessons almost before I could form full sentences. With no one in my family or circle who rode horses, it was just something this little girl’s heart was called to.
I was so lucky to have a family who indulged me, and at age 6 I started my riding lessons. Horses have been woven through my life one way or another ever since, and what has never changed is what I feel the moment I walk up to the pasture: everything else falls away.
There are no agendas, no performance, no pretending. A horse either wants to be with you, or it doesn’t, and when it does, there is nothing quite like it.
I came to Smiling Goat Ranch originally drawn by the horses, and what I found was so much more. What SGR has built is rare: a place genuinely committed to making healing through horses accessible to everyone.
That mission matters deeply to me. If it resonates with you, please consider donating to help support the amazing animals and staff at Smiling Goat Ranch and for the organization to keep thriving and serving as many individuals as possible.
