How it Works
For 31 days in May, participating organizations run fundraising campaigns under the shared global banner of Horses for Mental Health.
Organizations are provided:
Campaign Toolkits
Social media assets, storytelling templates, press releases, fundraising tips, and on-going support
Global Exposure
Inclusion in HMH press, media, and ambassador outreach
A Collective Movement
Organizations benefit from being part of something bigger—raising awareness while telling their unique story locally
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from programs offering equine-assisted services for mental health and personal growth, including:
- A U.S. nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status
- A registered charity in your country
- A for-profit program with approved fiscal sponsorship from HMH
- Programs working with licensed mental health professionals and/or trained facilitators
- Organizations serving diverse populations across mental health and personal growth
All Program Partners are reviewed to ensure alignment with Horses for Mental Health values and standards.
Our Review & Qualification Process
To protect the integrity of the campaign and the people and horses involved all applicants are thoughtfully reviewed based on:
- Professional qualifications and relevant training
- Program experience and scope of services
- Ethical practice and client safety
- Horse care, welfare, and management standards
- Overall professionalism and alignment with campaign values
This process ensures that the Horses for Mental Health campaign reflects the highest level of care, responsibility, and impact.
For-Profit Programs & Fiscal Sponsorship
For-profit programs are welcome to apply through Horses for Mental Health’s fiscal sponsorship pathway.
Fiscal sponsorship enables eligible U.S. based for-profit programs to:
- Participate fully in the campaign
- Accept tax-deductible donations
- Apply for grants and receive charitable contributions
- Receive ongoing year-round support beyond the May campaign
This pathway expands access while maintaining transparency, accountability, and mission alignment.
