Healing with Horses: Join Sissy & Me in Changing Lives

There’s something powerful that happens in the presence of a horse.
They don’t expect you to be perfect, have the right words, or pretend everything is okay. They simply stay present with you, creating a space that feels calm, safe, and genuine.

I’m partnering with Sissy—a spunky and spirited mare with a big personality and STEPS with Horses to raise funds that directly support equine-assisted mental health services for those who need it most.

Our Mission

To improve the mental health and well-being of military service members and their families, at-risk youth, and individuals facing mental health challenges through equine-assisted services. These include counseling and psychotherapy, therapeutic activities, education, community engagement, and research.

Why This Matter

Healing looks different for everyone.Traditional office therapy doesn’t work for everyone and that’s where horses come in.

Sissy and I have seen first hand how this incredible counseling works. In equine-assisted counseling, healing happens with horses. Horses create moments of trust, peace, confidence, and emotional breakthrough that words alone sometimes can’t reach.

Sissy isn’t just a horse—she’s a partner in healing.

Sissy’s big personality and nurturing heart has a special way of bringing comfort, confidence, and connection to everyone she meets. She helps clients feel safe enough to process difficult emotions and traumatic experiences. She teaches people that big emotions don’t have to be scary and that they are stronger than they think.

But caring for a horse like Sissy takes resources—and that’s where we need your help.
