NASHVILLE, TN – (May 14, 2026) – In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, country artist Kylie Frey sat down to chat LIVE on RFD-TV’s Market Day Report with host Suzanne Alexander about her music and the current Horses For Mental Health Campaign. The singer-songwriter, former rodeo queen, and cowgirl who recently celebrated her 13th No. 1 song on Texas Regional Radio is also an ambassador for the global trailblazing movement expanding access to mental health and well being services incorporating horses.
Of her involvement, Frey remarks: “This was a no brainer, I said absolutely sign me up for this! I remember being a kid and having a lot of feelings, and when I couldn’t understand what was happening inside, or what I was feeling, I would go out to my barn and talk to my horses, and literally cry on their shoulders. I think this is a beautiful organization and I’m so proud to be an ambassador.”
“We’re grateful to the celebrity ambassadors lending their voices and horse stories to amplify awareness,” says Shantel Klinger of Horses For Mental Health. “The Nashville music community has especially embraced this campaign and we’re so thankful for those who have saddled up to spread the word about these incredibly intuitive creatures positively impacting lives around the world.”
Horses for Mental Health turns awareness into action by supporting trusted, community-based programs that incorporate horses into mental health and well-being services. The 2026 campaign features 130 program partners across the United States and in Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Ireland, Ukraine and Zimbabwe.
Thus far these organizations have collectively raised over $315,300 to help continue the critical work they’re doing to expand access to mental health and well-being services incorporating horses. Together, through the power of horses, we’re expanding access to hope, purpose and healing each year.
Why Horses for Mental Health?
Horses are highly intuitive and to nonverbal messages and intentions. Because of this characteristic, horses may respond in ways to our presence that can reflect aspects of ourselves – bringing to the surface beliefs, attitudes, and unresolved trauma which may be impacting our relationships and mental health. This natural, unbiased feedback supports clients in learning and transforming in a safe and powerful way.
Horses provide a safe and dynamic environment, where peace and healing comes through the relationship facilitated by trained professionals.
Involving horses in psychotherapy and counseling sessions can be beneficial in helping clients with mental health needs such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Bipolar disorder
- Behavioral disorders
- Post-traumatic stress
- Schizophrenia
- Eating disorders
- Addictions
- Adjustment disorders
