Andy of Tweedberry came to my family when I was in high school. He was originally the foal of a Premarin mare and almost died of colic the day we went to pick him up at two years old. He is a bubbly, comfortable, big, and special Belgian Draft horse. I trained him to be a trail horse, to pull a cart, and even to jump a cross rail. He let kids ride him double bareback, braid his mane, and we loved having him at the farm. He made people smile every day! In 2020 we realized Andy had another calling though, beyond our family… He went to become a therapy horse at Big Red Barn Retreat. For the last six years and now into his old age, he not only makes people smile, but Helps our Heroes HEAL! Please support this amazing program and help them achieve their matching funds goals. This program is truly transformative, and Andy wants to continue doing this work for the rest of his life!!

Working in rehab I appreciate the importance of the health of not only the body but of the mind and spirit. I believe so much in the work that this organization does and am so grateful for all the lives they touch alongside their equine partners.
This is an incredible program right here in Blythewood, SC. These horses play a vital role in supporting the organization’s mental health services, especially for retired veterans living with PTSD and other challenges.
Just like people, these beautiful animals require more care as they age, and the cost of keeping them healthy, comfortable, and happy continues to grow. Every $20 donation makes a meaningful difference and helps provide the care these horses so richly deserve while allowing them to continue helping others heal.
