Our journey with Horses of Hope- Missouri, located in Rogersville, was nothing short of transformative for our entire family. When we first connected with this incredible nonprofit, my daughter Elizabeth was experiencing significant sensory challenges that made everyday life difficult. We decided to explore equine therapy as a possible avenue for support, and from our very first visit, we witnessed a remarkable change. The dedicated staff at Horses of Hope gently introduced Elizabeth to their therapy horses, and almost immediately, we saw her sensory responses and social engagement begin to improve.  Elizabeth started a bond with a horse named Leggs.

Through Equine Assisted Learning sessions, she not only developed essential sensory integration and motor skills, but also gained confidence, emotional resilience, and a sense of independence. The impact on her physical abilities was evident; tasks that once seemed overwhelming became manageable, and she approached new experiences with greater courage. Mentally and emotionally, Elizabeth blossomed, adapting to situations that previously would have been highly distressing for her. She later was introduced to riding to help more with her Occupational and Physical needs. Elizabeth rides a horse named Chip.

Inspired by the profound changes in our daughter, my husband and I felt compelled to give back by volunteering with Horses of Hope. This organization truly thrives because of the passion and commitment of its volunteers and supporters. We have witnessed firsthand how their programs uplift not only individual participants but also entire families, creating a community rooted in compassion and hope. Being involved with Horses of Hope is more than just an act of service, it is an act of love, one that brings purpose and fulfillment to everyone involved.
