My husband is a retired firefighter, and through him I’ve witnessed just how heavy the weight can be for first responders—the calls that linger, the strength they summon day after day, and the quiet toll it takes over time. That weight doesn’t stop with them; it reaches into their homes and into the hearts of their families as well.
What makes this program so powerful is the horses. They are truly the heart of it—each with their own personality, sensitivities, and story, reflecting so much of what it means to be human. In their presence, first responders find something rare: a space to slow down, to regulate, to reconnect, and to begin rebuilding the resilience worn down by everything they carry.
This work means so much to me because it gives first responders a place where they can simply be—where healing can begin, and where they are reminded they don’t have to carry it all alone. With your support, we can continue to offer that refuge and ensure that no one has to walk this path by themselves.
Thank you for standing with them and for helping care for those who give so much to others.
