Smiling Goat Ranch was inspired by my own first-hand family experiences with autism and veterans. I have a son on the spectrum, a son who is captain in the United States Air Force, and a brother who is a Lt. Colonel in the USAF.
SGR provides services for all neuropsychiatric conditions including autism, anxiety, depression, addiction, recovery, ADHD and PTSD for our veterans. We are currently serving more than 400 individuals a year since we were founded 11 years ago. We are absolutely thrilled to be part of this national campaign to elevate awareness about the magical healing powers of horses.
Fundraising is critical to keeping our mission alive. This campaign fuels the day-to-day reality of what we do at Smiling Goat Ranch – from caring for our horses to creating safe, supportive spaces for clients, this funding allows us to meet growing demand while ensuring services remain accessible to all!
Last year, our community showed what’s possible! That community support allowed us to reach more people than ever. We’re committed to ensuring cost is never a barrier to care, offering sliding-scale services so every individual and family can access the healing they need. Now we’re coming back even stronger, ready to expand that impact together.
Eight months ago, we relocated to a stunning mid-valley home at Hunt Ranch, made possible through the generosity of Brad and Christine Zanin. This expanded, thoughtfully designed facility has significantly increased SGR’s ability to serve the community—providing a welcoming, purpose-built environment for animal-assisted therapy and helping fill a critical gap by making these services more accessible than ever.
