I’m raising money for Horses for Mental Health at the Triangle Equity Assisted Learning farm because I believe connecting with nature and each other makes us happier – and better people. I’m getting involved with the Helping Hooves program – it’s designed for young adults 18-29 years of age, who are suffering from loneliness, disconnection, depression, and anxiety. I facilitated challenge course programs for young adults for many years. The Helping Hooves program is very similar, but horses are part of the teams! I have two sons in this age group, and I am painfully aware of how difficult it has been for this generation. They graduated from high school or college just as the pandemic hit and everything changed. If they were able to get a job, they often worked out of their bedrooms instead of with their co-workers. Both sons and my daughter-in-law have faced layoffs. The world is a crazy place right now and these kinds of programs can really help people find hope, calmness, and connection. If you’re like me and want to find a way to make the world a little better, this is a great option. Thanks for reading!
