I’m raising money because Special C.H.E.E.R.S. is our home away from home.
Zippy has been riding there since he was just over one year old. What started as therapy quickly became something much more — confidence, strength, belonging, and joy. Special C.H.E.E.R.S. taught him how to roll over. How to scoot. How to trust his body. And even now, as his body grows and changes, it remains his favorite place in the world.
But this place isn’t just transformative for him. It has held our whole family.
Amid a life filled with clinical appointments, insurance battles, and constant medical logistics, those 240 acres of open sky and rescue horses are our reprieve. It’s where Zippy is seen for who he is — not a diagnosis, not a chart, not a code. It’s where I have fallen apart and been gently put back together. It’s where families like ours connect, share resources, and remember we are not alone.
Special C.H.E.E.R.S. uses rescue horses and licensed therapy to do what some might call magic. Insurance would reimburse $400 per session for similar services — yet Fritzi, the founder, charges just $100 and has never raised prices, despite the rising cost of horse care, feed, property upkeep, staff, licensure, and continuing education. Insurance still considers it out-of-network, which means families like ours pay out-of-pocket until we reach a $10,000 deductible.
Special C.H.E.E.R.S. does not operate for profit. It operates from calling.
Fritzi gives endlessly and rarely asks for anything in return. So I’m asking on her behalf. Because this work matters. Because this place changes lives. Because the least we can do is stand behind someone who has given so much to our children and our community.
Your gift directly supports Zippy’s therapy and keeps this life-changing program accessible for families like ours.
Thank you for standing with us.
