Hit the Stars Learning with Horses is raising money to be able to provide equine-assisted mental health for people who may not have insurance or the financial means for counseling services. Additionally, Hit the Stars Learning with Horses would like to start programs for women and veterans in our community, as well as participate in research studies to explore additional ways horses may help to support humans with mental health and wellness. Our overall objective is to support positive social change for horses and humans.
Hit the Stars Learning with Horses provides mental health and wellness services for people ages 12 and up in Cumberland County, New Jersey. We also serve people in our neighboring Cape May and Gloucester counties. Our counseling services are unique because participants can choose to partner with one of our rescue horses to support their goals for mental health and wellness.
Many people come to us feeling overwhelmed with challenges and having difficulty managing emotions or believing in themselves.
Through time with horses, participants often experience an improved outlook, including self-esteem and self-acceptance, as well as positive coping skills to manage past and present challenges.
This matters because all around us many people are experiencing different conflicts and challenges and need support for mental health and wellness.
Donations support counseling services for mental health and wellness incorporating horses; new programs for diverse groups of people and their needs, and continued research for ways horses can help to support humans and mental health.
