Healing doesn’t happen in isolation — and many people who come to Anam Cara arrive feeling exactly that.
Children navigating trauma, veterans carrying invisible injuries, families grieving suicide loss, people living with anxiety, depression, or brain injury, and individuals searching for belonging often struggle in ways that traditional settings don’t always reach. Words can be hard. Trust can be harder.
Horses change the conversation.
Because horses respond honestly and without judgment, they help people regulate their nervous system before they ever have to explain their story. In that calm, grounded state, therapy becomes possible. Clients begin to reconnect — with themselves, with others, and with hope.
At Anam Cara, licensed clinicians work alongside our herd to provide equine-assisted psychotherapy, EMDR, and traditional counseling. Around that clinical care, we build community support: veterans programs, youth services, suicide loss groups, brain-injury support, LGBTQ+ affirming spaces, women’s circles, mindfulness practices, yoga for healing, and herd-based meditation. These are not extras — they are often the bridge that allows someone to walk into therapy at all.
We raise funds so cost is never the barrier to care.
Donations support client scholarships, horse care, accessible programs, and safe spaces where people can heal at their own pace. Every dollar directly sustains sessions, keeps our herd healthy, and allows someone who might otherwise go without help to receive it.
When you support Anam Cara, you’re not funding an activity —
you’re funding regulation instead of panic, connection instead of isolation, and a path forward when someone cannot yet see one.
